We're glad you stopped by to visit us. Please take a look around, and let us know if you have any
questions. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the Shetland Sheepdog. We hope you
enjoy your visit!
Mistycreek Shelties, located in Ohio, began in 1991 as "Wayco Shetland Sheepdogs." My husband, Jack, and I
purchased our first sheltie in the Spring of 1991. "Shelby" quickly became our spoiled child! She was so
spoiled, that she practically ran our household. She would whine, whimper, and pace to get our attention,
making sure her wishes were top priority!. If her first attempts didn't work, she would move to more
drastic measures. She would push her feed bowl or water dish across the floor; making every clanking, rattling
sound she could get out of those dishes to make sure we KNEW what she wanted!
Late in 1991, we decided to look for a companion for Shelby. We were expecting our first child, and we were
concerned that Shelby would either be lonesome or would show aggression toward the new baby. We purchased "Honey"
in January of 1992, as an eight week old puppy. That is when the love affair truly began with the Shetland Sheepdog!
Shelby totally amazed us with her reaction. Our concern that Shelby would be aggressive toward the baby or the new
puppy were way off!! She became our son's guardian and protector!! Travis wasn't allowed to do
anything; without Shelby, being right by his side. Honey would tag along as Travis' companion and Shelby
would keep watch over both of them.
This is why we want to share our love and admiration for this awesome breed with you. Shelties rank high in the
intelligence charts, they bond to their family, not their location, and they thrive on your praise and truly want to
please their master. Regardless of your reason for wanting a sheltie, whether that be strictly as a life long
companion, or a dog you want to compete with in the many venues that shelties excel - your sheltie should be
from genetically tested stock, and the temperament as described by the AKC standard for this breed. So, please
stick around and be sure to visit our puppy page, our available page as well as visit with our adult dogs
and get to know a little about them. We also have some great links for you to learn more information about
this wonderful breed. Thanks for stopping by and visiting Mistycreek Shelties. We hope you enjoy your stay.
